The Law Offices of Neil Patel

Serving Will County & DuPage County

Chris Regis is an attorney with a career defined by public service and deep-rooted ties to Joliet and Will County community. He joined The Law Offices of Neil Patel in July of 2025 and within his first six months has secured over a dozen Not Guilty verdicts at trial for DUI clients. A lifelong resident of the Will County and Joliet area, Chris brings over three decades of diverse experience in law enforcement and litigation to the firm.

Before practicing law, Chris served as a police officer with the Joliet Police Department for nearly a decade. This firsthand experience in investigative work provides him with a unique perspective on criminal matters and trial preparation. After finishing law school, Chris spent 13 years as an Assistant State’s Attorney at the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office. Rising through the ranks, he ended his time there as a Felony Courtroom Supervisor, where he oversaw the prosecution of some of the region’s most complex and high-profile cases. During this time, he served as the AFSCME Union Steward for the WCSAO and participated in several contract negotiations.  He served as a prosecutor in the Christopher Vaughn quadruple homicide trial, a case that garnered national attention. Chris was later featured on an episode of Dr. Phil to discuss the complexities and evidence of this significant case. Following that, Chris served in the City of Joliet Legal Department, holding critical roles as Deputy Corporation Counsel, Interim City Attorney, and was the city’s first Inspector General. During this time, he managed municipal litigation, investigated complaints against city officials, and navigated complex regulatory and ordinance matters.

“He’s an amazing trial attorney, razor sharp, and knows exactly what the key issues are in any case. With over 30 years of criminal work and internal knowledge of police procedure, he makes an amazing addition to the firm.” – Neil Patel, Owner.

Chris’s dedication to his community began at Lincoln-Way High School. He continued his education locally at Joliet Junior College before earning his undergraduate degree from Lewis University in Romeoville. He returned to school and attended Marquette University Law School, where he earned his Juris Doctorate and began his transition from the front lines of law enforcement to the courtroom.

Chris is deeply embedded in the fabric of Joliet and Will County. When he is not in the courtroom, he is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys camping and traveling. His extensive ties to the region and his multifaceted legal background allow him to provide clients with advocacy rooted in experience and local knowledge.
